Why Winning the World Cup Wasn’t Enough - André Schürrle

Show notes

Andre Schürrle knows what it means to operate at the edge. World Cup finals, 80,000 people in the stands, a body and mind shaped for constant performance. But the real breaking points didn’t come in the stadiums.

In this episode of Going Mental, Jan Frodeno sits down with André to talk about mental and physical limits: where they are, how they shift and why he keeps chasing them long after football. From elite competition to ultraruns, MMA sparring, cold exposure and nights where quitting feels inevitable, André explains why he now deliberately puts himself in situations where control disappears and honesty begins.

They explore what happens when your body shuts down, when motivation collapses and when there’s no crowd, no contract, no reward. It’s a conversation about obsession, pain, solitude and the fine line between pushing yourself and breaking yourself. About why suffering can strip everything away except truth and why finding your limit is often the only way to understand yourself.

This episode goes deep into discomfort, endurance and the psychology of going all the way.

00:00:00: To be honest, when I think about it stepping away from all that stuff this identity of being a footballer is kind-of mental as well because nobody advised me to do.

00:00:11: And never had the feeling... This was success for me like being comfortable in my space and really training a lot.

00:00:18: Never had the feelings that i'm looking inside.

00:00:22: In these moments of pain and suffering what you said before there's great honesty.

00:00:28: What really pushes me is to see what this life has to give.

00:00:47: Andre, welcome to Going Mental!

00:00:52: We're here in your hometown of Berlin A bit of a full circle moment for me The space.

00:01:01: we are in the studio of my photographer who was with us over the last ten years Your career, my career.

00:01:12: I mean your career.

00:01:13: we found a soccer ball let's be honest and We found you know bike to kind of join our passions in the middle.

00:01:22: But it really is something ironically where i had My last photo shooting after my career And After so many years of building In and I find It such A cool place To kick off a new career Which Is asking questions figuring out why people like You Do the things they do where?

00:01:39: They come from and I guess for you too.

00:01:41: You've Come on to your second trajectory Yes, and found a new path.

00:01:47: you've swapped stadiums for solitude you swap pressure For The silence And you've come out different guy finding new horizons pushing limits redefining what it means to walk away.

00:02:08: I mean, you're not walking away dude and hundreds of kilometers!

00:02:16: How does someone like you start their day?

00:02:19: First of all Jan thank-you for having me.

00:02:22: For me this was nice.

00:02:23: after book at home You sent me a copy.

00:02:25: It's probably the photo shooting here as well

00:02:27: so very

00:02:28: inspiring.

00:02:29: My days starts With my kids.

00:02:33: every day the breakfast and the morning ritual is one hundred percent.

00:02:37: It's it's sacred for me.

00:02:39: I love, i love every bit of the morning.

00:02:43: I try to wake up a little bit earlier than the kids, like breathing and thoughts on my own.

00:02:49: Then i have water of salt with some lime in it... I go outside no matter if it rains or not.. If its cold or warm!

00:03:02: breathe a little bit to look around, and then the kids storm in.

00:03:07: And it's chaos till I drop them off with my taxi or bike into school at Keita.

00:03:13: Do you

00:03:14: have any exercise in that routine?

00:03:17: Do you do exercises daily?

00:03:25: become physical or is it really something where you find that peace through breathing?

00:03:30: I mean, breathwork was something i recently discovered.

00:03:33: It's kind of Fascinating actually how physical it can be.

00:03:36: Yeah,

00:03:36: It's crazy physical.

00:03:37: I mean i don't have heavy breathing sessions in the morning.

00:03:40: Sometimes when i'm good if going to bed very early or wake up earlier and have a session In The Morning like five six o'clock?

00:03:48: I Like this as well being alone And the thoughts no music because in the mornig my ears are not...I Can't hear Music in the Mornig.

00:03:55: So Have A Session There.

00:03:56: but its Very Not Common For Me To Work Out In The Mourning After I drop off the kids, this is my time and then have like a tour to our session.

00:04:06: The first one of today.

00:04:08: And yeah, I mean like you said that tried to be very efficient

00:04:11: session.

00:04:12: First of the day.

00:04:13: how many of these you have?

00:04:14: I mean i try To Have two sessions A Day Depends on the Time.

00:04:18: I have an as well.

00:04:19: I Try to make it Very Spontaneous That I don't.

00:04:21: I Don't plan It.

00:04:22: in Everything.

00:04:23: I see what Meetings I have the Calls I have and Then In The Time Between This Is either uh, eating or going into the gym or going for a run.

00:04:33: Or bike ride?

00:04:34: Yeah.

00:04:34: So I try to have two sessions one cardio session once strength sessions and yeah recently as well started or this year has started with MMA of like fighting Jiu-Jitsu and stuff like this.

00:04:46: because i find you know ,I want to see what is there.

00:04:51: .i Want To See How My Body Feels In Different Situations.

00:04:55: And Now As Well I Believe This Can Be A big change as well in my character, when I know that i can be dangerous and the body can't be dangerous.

00:05:05: So yeah Chuchitsu and MMA fighting will be a big thing for me next year

00:05:11: too.

00:05:11: Wow so like full contact?

00:05:14: Full contact, sparring and stuff like this.

00:05:16: And getting a black eye from time to time... This is there now as well!

00:05:22: Hey dude

00:05:22: you don't shy away form the limits.

00:05:24: I mean that's really fascinating.

00:05:29: The show is called Going Mental.

00:05:31: Your episode surely going mental.

00:05:35: When you hear Going Mental what does it mean for you?

00:05:40: How would you define Going Mental personally?

00:05:44: Going mental probably, I mean it's kind of madness as well.

00:05:48: I feel like going mental for me is growing out the comfort zone all things that i'm not used to or maybe don't want to do Aswell when im on a starting line.

00:05:59: you did in UTMB aswell couple months ago Fifty kilometer race where you know it's going to be mental in these things.

00:06:08: This is for me, Mental being out of the comfort zone Being like a little bit crazy not stupid being there and just trying To see what's beyond all that doubt Be all that fear Beyond physical pain And suffering.

00:06:24: So That's Probably For You As You Are Now.

00:06:28: How Would You Have Defined It as The Player Andre?

00:06:32: Do you think that's changed for you in the last, say decade?

00:06:39: Did going mental mean something different.

00:06:41: I don't know.

00:06:41: was there ever a more playful something crazy kind of definition?

00:06:48: or has it always been thing to go out and prove yourself?

00:06:53: I mean, maybe from the start mental is being in a stadium with eighty thousand people watching you play football and but from time to time probably you had this as well.

00:07:02: In your career it's like normality or you wanted to be normal.

00:07:08: You want to be excited and all that stuff, but being on the field then everything is like this.

00:07:13: mental and here in there's probably never helps didn't help me.

00:07:17: so uh... Probably my career I've never had a feeling of really mental because i was used to Everything tried push-push-pushing But it wasn't just my normal days.

00:07:28: And to be honest when think about stepping away from All That Stuff stepping away from like this identity of being a footballer is kind of mental as well because nobody advised me to do it.

00:07:44: Nobody said, This is good?

00:07:46: Yeah you can step away from everything that you build over the last twenty years and do mountain runs with no clothes on or something like this.

00:07:54: so

00:07:55: we get into that in a second.

00:07:57: probably this feels mental as And maybe when I think about it, its like... Maybe is a good thing to be mental because It's probably decisions you take for yourself and nobody really understands.

00:08:13: You did triathlon For all your years.

00:08:17: This is mental for normal person as well going into the heat in Hawaii and pushing their body towards absolute limit.

00:08:24: this is mental?

00:08:27: Yeah, absolutely.

00:08:28: I mean there was that but i mean There's so many things...I talked to my biggest competitor Alistair Brownlee and funny enough for both of us what sort of came instantly?

00:08:40: Was Us Losing our shit over something technical going wrong?

00:08:45: you know like for him it was a puncture that took too long to fix.

00:08:49: Or for me, it was like a technical device and in that moment I just lose it absolutely lose it!

00:08:55: And then its' just...I have this rage..and i don't know how to deal with

00:08:58: it!!

00:08:58: Then I go mental and start shouting at the technical devices in front of you.

00:09:02: totally crazy.

00:09:04: but It's interesting How You Say That As A Player You Probably Didn't Feel It as Much Is Maybe Because Your Cog In The System and really you have to function.

00:09:18: I mean, you go out there.

00:09:19: it's step by step And of course You don't start with eighty thousand people.

00:09:22: everybody starts With mom and dad at the start line know?

00:09:25: Then It gets more and More and more when you build into it.

00:09:28: But eventually you Have to.

00:09:30: you have To Function.

00:09:33: Yeah maybe i Mean its Like, you have to function.

00:09:37: You have to be there and work because if it doesn't work then another player steps into your place.

00:09:43: so maybe this is like getting used to the crazy stuff Because you just have to compete And that's only one hundred percent best.

00:09:53: That does not feel like being in a situation where they are mental or out of their box.

00:09:59: It was just normal way for them at the moment

00:10:05: And what does it do for you, like as a person to know that... You have to be on.

00:10:12: All the time and I don't how many games we play in this season.

00:10:16: Forgive me!

00:10:19: In big teams your laugh is about fifty or sixty games with national team It gets tiring, of course.

00:10:29: Because you have to have every three days and this is actually I believe the big difference as well if your a good player A great or best player The best players like Cristiano Ronaldo or Messi What they've done?

00:10:42: They had consistently every game Every three day for them A whole year.

00:10:48: there are the best players on pitch And I believe this has so much to do, not with skills and stuff.

00:10:54: Obviously they have crazy skills in every player of the Bundesliga or something like that.

00:10:59: but then you had... This is a difference!

00:11:01: Are you ready everyday?

00:11:02: To be at your

00:11:03: best?!

00:11:03: Are you really ready everyday when you step into the stadium for being the best on the pitch?

00:11:08: Or are you really believing yourself as the best?

00:11:11: That's what made me think about it.

00:11:18: Go on to the next level because I always had that face.

00:11:21: I'd like two three four months, I was there every three days.

00:11:25: Yes, I felt it.

00:11:26: I was going to the gym on my own at midnight Because I felt after being more have more strength I go into field an hour before everybody comes because of the feeling up to train my right foot and Then add these faces where what's really down?

00:11:41: And I this feeling like I could be here but I could Be very much hear that I didn't want to play, the pressure was a little bit too much.

00:11:48: I didn't feel comfortable going in the stadium and believe myself as best player on pitch.

00:11:53: then injuries come.

00:11:55: you have like two or three months that are really there at end what it has been.

00:12:00: my opinion is how much resilience can be built over time?

00:12:11: Dude honestly if i listen to this sounds so familiar midnight at gym, extra sessions.

00:12:18: Extra this and I sometimes wonder for myself whether it didn't have the confidence to just say like It's enough!

00:12:27: Like The work i'm putting in is Enough And...like..it sounds like these Sessions.

00:12:34: They build up your Confidence and you come into it?

00:12:36: You're really out there and you're smashing.

00:12:39: Records are doing really well But like that's sustainable in between.

00:12:44: Yes, you know?

00:12:45: Like for us Training like around the two thousands we would do maybe forty five hours a week of training.

00:12:53: if I ran less than A hundred kilometers in a week i Would go out on sunday and make sure i ran more.

00:12:59: And it's like It's such an arbitrary number right?

00:13:03: Yeah, its totally.

00:13:05: It is total bullshit.

00:13:06: bingo!

00:13:07: For your head this Is nothing other Than kind Of building building your own self-confidence.

00:13:14: Yeah,

00:13:15: do you think maybe sometimes that's what would have led to you being up and down?

00:13:21: Because of fluctuation?

00:13:22: for me like you're up here or are you down there I can so relate.

00:13:25: Do You Think Sometimes Looking For The Extreme Maybe Pushed You To An Extreme?

00:13:30: yeah maybe i thought about this quite a while as well.

00:13:33: As Well In Briefing Session Stuff Like Why?

00:13:37: What Were The Events As Well in My Life?

00:13:39: Or In Sports Like Different Games That that I come from here, to these low moments.

00:13:45: That have go through and nothing is working in all this stuff.

00:13:48: What are the events really?

00:13:51: drive up and downs?

00:13:56: In my sport a lot of things You can't decide for your own.

00:14:01: So you train what the coach says, you go on a bus when that coach says to go in the plane with the coaches as you're going into The meeting where the coaches eat What everybody else says.

00:14:11: so I always had the feeling i was on my low When?

00:14:15: I couldn't take it That nothing of this is My own decision.

00:14:19: so i always have the Feeling that oh no did they tell me To train at eleven?

00:14:24: i'm not ready now at eleven.

00:14:26: This Is like I can't do it.

00:14:28: It's not for

00:14:29: me.".

00:14:29: Then you push through, but there comes a point when your body says because you're not comfortable in your own decision-making that if you have an injury then don't play one game and these bumpy roads come back.

00:14:43: like all right i decide to be here!

00:14:46: If i'm good or not good... And then..I went always into the gym at midnight and really trained, trained a lot.

00:14:58: And then the highs came again.

00:15:00: Then there was point in this high after couple of months where like I'm tired...

00:15:06: I

00:15:07: couldn't sustain it!

00:15:09: Everybody has this?

00:15:11: You were in the pinnacle world champion in your sports.

00:15:15: Do you have that same feeling training towards something and you're on your high-high-high?

00:15:23: Just couldn't.

00:15:24: I mean you wanted to do it, but all right.

00:15:26: This is this is not working at the moment.

00:15:28: So what?

00:15:29: I can really relate too.

00:15:30: Is that you have somebody who controls What you're saying and that would just like freak me out because while It's working i assume That's great.

00:15:38: But then Like You say you miss a game or something goes wrong And you're like but these people are telling Me To Do This.

00:15:45: yeah

00:15:46: why am i following this Whereas for me, I was at least a thousand kilometers away from my coach.

00:15:52: At ninety-nine point nine percent of the time... ...at least in the later stages of my career and The national team is little bit different to have that self determination And really be an individual because i always believed okay this Is the plan.

00:16:12: but even the plan Was written a week ago And even it was written specifically for me, you know?

00:16:18: Whereas your plan is written for the team.

00:16:20: Yes!

00:16:21: But a week ago I wasn't in that same space and... ...I didn't have my kid coming at three o'clock at night because he wanted to hug.

00:16:32: All those things come into certain stages of life where we just had to adapt the day.. ..and i can totally relate that eleven o' clock Even though its sounds Like a bougie sleeping.

00:16:44: Mine was more like six o'clock.

00:16:45: to be honest, there's the difference between triathlon and soccer after all.

00:16:49: It is

00:16:50: yeah nine thirty wake up call little breakfast.

00:16:53: Is that what you find in your new face?

00:16:56: Being so wholesome as being an individual rather than...

00:17:00: One hundred percent.

00:17:01: Everything I do is one-hundred percent.

00:17:03: my decision, i have no training plan.

00:17:05: No not this.

00:17:07: nobody tells me what to do.

00:17:08: everything that I do going on the mountains it's like The way It comes into My Way...the feeling..The people I talk To uh Is....everything is my Decision and This This feels Sustainable!I believe the life That Im living now with different kinds of stuff I'm bringing Into my Life live till I die.

00:17:26: So this feels like at the moment and it feels really, you said wholesome?

00:17:31: It's really fulfilling to have this...I tell it is a big area that can go everywhere where i decide to go.

00:17:40: The crazy thing is nowadays all these achievements right You say well on personal level they give probably as much if in your life not more Right.

00:17:57: One of my favorite sayings, you remember Cool Runnings the movie?

00:18:00: Yes!

00:18:00: Of course.

00:18:01: You know that coach when he speaks to the team and says if your not enough without a medal... ...you won't be enough with a medal.

00:18:12: Yeah I like it.

00:18:16: Like what does success look for now versus back then?

00:18:24: Back Then one hundred percent was getting admiration from the fans, getting love from the press.

00:18:33: Getting that medal in Rio de Janeiro was like I searched it everywhere on the outside but never.

00:18:41: what does really feel for me?

00:18:42: And ever had a feeling this is success.

00:18:45: to be comfortable with my space and training a lot... I've never felt inside everything i did the press talking good to me or different players looking at me.

00:18:59: Oh yeah, he's really as good this is.

00:19:01: I thought stuff like that was always looking for different people.

00:19:04: are the coaches opinions and nowadays For Me i don't have The feeling of Really That?

00:19:11: Have To Show Something Or Be Good For Somebody Else.

00:19:16: This Changed A Lot Like a Good Day For Me Can be As Well That I didn't talk to anybody, anything.

00:19:23: I went to bed with my kids sitting beside me and I read the story And this is a successful day as well because i have good feeling about today.

00:19:32: So it changed alot.

00:19:34: Sometimes...I have be honest sometimes there's still these ego thoughts that I had to chase something Aswell of new business.

00:19:42: This has been so good..this money.

00:19:45: It´s an everyday struggle to really pull myself towards me and yeah, doing the things that I decided to do.

00:19:54: And not what other people expect me to do so... Yeah i believe it's a journey.

00:20:02: It is a journey!

00:20:03: A

00:20:03: hundred percent like.... Like..I mean I can really relate.

00:20:07: you know for me it was always like.

00:20:08: I just wanted be somebody who isn't nobody You know?

00:20:11: Its'like that kind of thing.

00:20:12: grow up but then think alot athletes can relate.

00:20:18: that ultimate medal, the ultimate peak doesn't really give you that emotional peace.

00:20:25: For me it was almost a worst moment because I couldn't feel it being in real world champion and i was like okay what is this?

00:20:35: Because we have these older players for them like Schreinsteiger or Kloser.

00:20:42: This was the pinnacle of their whole career right?

00:20:46: Fifteen years in professional sports to be at this moment.

00:20:49: And after that, all of them they left the national team and stuff like this... ...and I was twenty-three with this medal and did the assists.. ..and everything!

00:20:57: All right.

00:21:00: so what is it really?

00:21:02: To be honest there were last two years maybe where i found not only for me but also society when people talk about these things now And that I just really believe now, That i know what it meant this moment.

00:21:22: After that for me at the worst year of my career after World Cup was injured a lot and in this down spiral moment... ...I didn't want to start from zero goals or assists in games.

00:21:35: You have to start like two.

00:21:37: three weeks later after you win the World Cup and you come to, I was at Chelsea in a moment.

00:21:42: You come to Copham and Jose Mourinho comes here and says like well done but then two weeks?

00:21:47: The Premier League starts And you have to be there right.

00:21:50: it's like these moments and this was the lowest moment of my career because I couldn't find that My body just shut down.

00:21:58: That is the biggest thing

00:21:59: Of course

00:22:00: Like as national world champion...I mean..that Is the Olympic Games for us.

00:22:08: And I always think how when you have these external dreams and this like, these points in time.

00:22:16: Like it's... In a sense once you reach them You crush them at the same time.

00:22:21: Yeah

00:22:22: Right?

00:22:23: All of sudden It just-you wake up and your six o'clock At the pool.

00:22:27: Why am i doing that?

00:22:28: I've got that metal But at the sametime party again, like after a while it gets old.

00:22:36: Yeah

00:22:36: and nothing changed really?

00:22:38: Did you have the feeling as well in your career after World Championships or anything like this?

00:22:42: Dude I don't even know...I think the first world cup after the Olympics was like thirty-fourth of something.

00:22:47: yeah Like i went back to square one..i sucked!

00:22:49: I sucked in big way and same thing....i got injured.

00:22:53: And I'm more had question why?

00:22:57: because, you know training three times a day getting back into it forty hours week whatever It is and your like.

00:23:03: well For me.

00:23:05: It was also a step out of like to change my stars right.

00:23:08: so all over sudden I had an ice apartment at a fast car Going on the plane turning left.

00:23:16: all these things there were.

00:23:17: they're all this new luxuries Right?

00:23:20: And i thought that Was it Like for All My life while i didn't have them Like, I thought that's the fulfillment and that's... That's the point of it all.

00:23:28: And realizing those things man they're like yeah!

00:23:31: They are so fleeting and you need more and more off them.

00:23:34: It is a black hole which just sucks everything in.

00:23:37: You want more..and more..it was really tough time.

00:23:43: In same sense

00:23:45: Because after this question as well for me with goals After my career Do you set goals?

00:23:52: Because for me, I decided to not really set big goals.

00:23:56: For me that i want to achieve this number or this because exactly out of my career when I have these goals okay...I need ten goals in the next twenty games and stuff like then you reach it all right.

00:24:09: but Okay, I still have five games left.

00:24:13: What is the goal?

00:24:14: And as well being a champion and all that stuff... Aswell like after these goals my performance in everything My motivation and my desire went completely down.

00:24:24: So now i don't set goals or anything Aswell going into this for me.

00:24:29: fun games Or triathlon or marathons Yeah!

00:24:32: After time but.. Just try to give Everything That I Have at This Moment Do you Still Set Goals in your life?

00:24:41: I honestly, goals as such.

00:24:44: Like you spoke to it there is like... You can't just take your ego and just like.. It doesn't disappear right!

00:24:50: There's still that stuff-like you want to build a good business Still wanna have this show be successful Want to speak with interesting people get around But i think taking into an internal level has really been helpful for me.

00:25:08: Like you spoke about being a dad like being good dad.

00:25:13: Yeah,

00:25:14: but What do you think it is?

00:25:18: That keeps you going.

00:25:20: now like when you get there what is your why?

00:25:24: like When you get to last soul ultra and Like you're in the middle of a night I'm texting me You sound like death.

00:25:32: warmed up dude why do you keep going?

00:25:40: What pushes

00:25:44: me is to see really what this life has live in the past.

00:25:55: or yeah, I did this and everybody is shaking my hands on the streets.

00:25:59: And stuff like...I want to see what his life really has to offer.

00:26:03: in difficult moments as well suffering and very hard adventures but also beautiful moment with kids being there building a business.

00:26:15: I just want to see what's there, how far can i push myself?

00:26:19: How many things can I experience in this life?

00:26:22: and uh... This is the journey that I am.

00:26:26: Like..I just don't wanna be at the end of my life And think about my life.

00:26:33: Well you had ten great years in professional football!

00:26:38: This was what everybody talked about.

00:26:43: not really pushed myself to really experience it all.

00:26:47: Do you think maybe you've swapped the metrics of golds and assists, or these kind things for a certain curiosity?

00:26:57: Yeah... Maybe never thought about curiosity.

00:27:01: I mean there's a curiosity for me too.

00:27:06: see what i'm made off.

00:27:10: Yeah, what I made off and as well how resilient am i really?

00:27:14: And then in these moments when you texted me.

00:27:17: I was at kilometer seventy-five... ...and I'm like.. ..And I told y'all wanted to run one sixty or something like this!

00:27:23: It's a crazy

00:27:24: number!!

00:27:25: What the hell did I

00:27:27: do??

00:27:28: As well your message.

00:27:30: it couldn't reach

00:27:31: anything!!!

00:27:33: To be in these moment.... And now exactly after that I looked inside.

00:27:39: This is a really good moment for me, because I'm suffering.

00:27:43: I am in crazy pain!

00:27:45: I did this by myself... Nobody told to do it or anything.

00:27:50: and these moments are so valuable at the moment Because its so raw and honest And i can look into mirror after that.

00:28:01: You gave everything but there's something something is there and it keeps on growing.

00:28:09: So yeah, that's definitely a curiosity to see what I'm made of and what this life has to offer.

00:28:16: And at the end... Yeah!

00:28:19: Such great position.

00:28:20: just experience so many things in these beautiful work.

00:28:27: I find much of the curiosity around figuring out like What my genetic ceiling?

00:28:35: Like where can I get, right?

00:28:40: In the endurance kind of space.

00:28:43: How close can i actually get to that?

00:28:46: like not how high is the mountain and how high can you build a stairs

00:28:49: there To Get There?

00:28:50: And...I do sometimes wonder whether it also Is A Thing Of Control Because in That Moment You Can Dial It Up And Down.

00:29:05: Its Up To You how much pain you inflict.

00:29:09: Whereas very much, especially in other situations I feel like we're just passengers and life.

00:29:15: that really is one of the things about endurance sports Like yes people talk about The pain And suffering and all this kind of thing.

00:29:22: i don't Really think the pain Is a point?

00:29:24: Don't particularly enjoy Suffering at All it's Just something...I know probably chose A weird job for it.

00:29:33: I think you enjoyed.

00:29:35: I enjoy inflicting it on others more, the old saying like if it hurts me its killing them.

00:29:43: that was kind of a nice feeling in some points whereas now these things...I always say embrace the pain because i feel defined as something to grow off.

00:29:57: I don't know if that's something you can relate to.

00:30:00: Oh, yeah.

00:30:12: I don't have to and I don' t really push myself.

00:30:17: And if i don´t train this day... I trained tomorrow.

00:30:20: It's okay!

00:30:21: I've a wife.. two little kids ..and want be there.

00:30:24: everything was fine because you had the financial backbone.

00:30:28: it is like ...I always said that excuse as well for my self.

00:30:33: I know what I dont want but idk what I want.

00:30:36: so just.... I flow and see what's, what is happening.

00:30:40: And then after this weekend one of our best friends he said like one week before next weekend we go with four boys.

00:30:47: We go to the Polish mountains!

00:30:50: I have a guide.

00:30:51: it's like Poland has mountains.

00:30:53: i have no idea.

00:30:54: all right let's go there.

00:30:55: that's about ice bathing breathwork going up a mountain like shirtless and other stuff...we had no idea what to expect.

00:31:04: so This is something like this weekend changed my whole energy after I stepped away from football.

00:31:13: And as well till now, it's like...I bring this energy everywhere because you go around jumping into a cold waterfalls in the middle of night.

00:31:24: You have deep heavy perfect sessions and then you go up to mountain just with shorts, hat on, clothes...

00:31:32: Pretending like your are a high rock.

00:31:34: Yeah!

00:31:35: Pretending that you're the baddest man on earth freezing to death.

00:31:39: there's point two hours into hike completely cold shivering Not really.

00:31:46: I mean, you still sweat and everything but you don't get used to it because It gets just colder and colder.

00:31:51: And You see like...you Don't feel the certain parts of your skin and all that stuff.

00:31:58: Then after two hours Of walking being blue and shaking there's this yellow hut.

00:32:05: There is soup coffee.

00:32:07: We stopped there under a little shelter Because it was crazy snowing.

00:32:15: You you have to make a decision do you go to the top like what?

00:32:19: Do wanted to do and all that stuff?

00:32:20: And what it means is thirty minutes more of this, and even getting worse.

00:32:25: or you go inside The hut and drink your tea in all good.

00:32:29: And probably two years before I would've one hundred percent going into hot and being Like i did my job.

00:32:35: It's alright I don't Have To Push Myself on All This Stuff.

00:32:38: and this was A moment as well In This Little Brotherhood That Said Like No Man We're going.

00:32:43: Do we see how far can go?

00:32:44: If don't make it, run back doesn't matter.

00:32:47: and these thirty minutes of pain or suffering being honest really like shouting to myself is changed everything because I did that at the end when went on top.

00:32:59: put our clothes was one of best moments in my life.

00:33:04: and then you come down, see what can do.

00:33:06: If don't listen to the first bit of... No man I dont want it's okay.

00:33:12: if you don´t always listen to this voice go a little further See how far you could go.

00:33:20: This change at end like for me was almost three years ago.

00:33:25: It changed my whole perspective on doing difficult things and really taking this energy with me.

00:33:34: What changed?

00:33:37: You said two years ago, you would have pulled into the hut... Yes!

00:33:41: ...you've done two hours in a freezing cold In that moment if you can recall or even within space.

00:33:51: now why not?

00:33:53: Why did you NOT take the easy out?

00:33:58: I can't tell you one hundred percent why.

00:34:01: I mean, for sure there was like this team thing as well.

00:34:05: Like being

00:34:06: with everybody you made a collective decision.

00:34:08: one went into heart because the guy said do have to stop?

00:34:11: Because he was shivering and it was all blue.

00:34:16: His chest was already like being blue itself.

00:34:19: And we're just like.

00:34:19: okay We don't take these risks.

00:34:22: The rest of us were three of my very close friends All right what did we do?

00:34:29: Okay Don't think too much We just, we just go for it.

00:34:35: I can't really tell you was not like a. maybe i can do this and he says all right no This is the day.

00:34:43: Let's see how far we can go.

00:34:47: And yeah at the end I believe that there are great teachers as well Like...I don't think You have to be stupid That you take crazy risks but sometimes too Dip a little toe into beyond what you believe is possible as a great helper.

00:35:10: I would probably also wonder That if you've had these crazy emotions, right and you've heard Literally tens of thousands people or hundreds of thousands of people screaming and shouting like to get that emotional stimulus From somewhere else You need something pretty radical.

00:35:34: Yeah

00:35:34: Like I would think like if i think about it now, we talked about suffering.

00:35:39: I think I would have been the guy in a hut.

00:35:41: I'm not sure... I don't

00:35:42: believe so!

00:35:44: You are suffering your whole career but this is about being in that state of all right?

00:35:51: This is absolutely terrible.

00:35:53: Did you never had on bike ride kilometer at one hundred twenty when You have to be so often in these situations where it's like All right, this could be as well over.

00:36:08: I just pull over and It's okay for today.

00:36:11: It's ok for the day but i mean you did So many races that you never had a feeling man Today is not

00:36:17: the Day or

00:36:18: like in the marathon then?

00:36:19: Its all Right its alright.

00:36:21: go For The next one.

00:36:23: yeah Literally I've wanted To quit many races, and I always wondered whether i would have the purity of motivation that if there wasn't a world title or points or another championship Or all the pats on the back.

00:36:37: And the interviews and all these kind of things Whether I would've had that purity To keep going.

00:36:44: yeah

00:36:45: because that's what it is.

00:36:46: in that moment you're in solitude

00:36:48: yes?

00:36:49: and You chose to keep going for yourself in your brotherhood with you guys.

00:36:58: And that's why I'm wondering, where kind of change comes from?

00:37:02: Because it is pretty radical!

00:37:04: Like if you're in pain and on the pitch have to perform for a team... ...I get it but this is deeply personal.

00:37:13: Yeah one hundred percent.

00:37:16: This is also fun as well because its decision.

00:37:21: so i don't get Well done at the end of this road.

00:37:26: And I don't get like money or anything, you know?

00:37:30: This is why it's so fun for me to be on this journey because all the decisions and stuff that I endure or put myself into feels right.

00:37:40: Allright!

00:37:40: That took my own decision.

00:37:43: There was nothing there after.

00:37:47: On the other hand... Maybe as well why I stopped so early playing football.

00:37:53: It's like because... ...I didn't have that purity of the game and this is everything, it was fun for me!

00:38:01: Now i did it aswell Because there were lots money involved.

00:38:05: There are lots fame involved Lots people putting their hand around me saying Well done and good job.

00:38:13: This was a big motivator in my head In my career to keep going and as well pushing myself through this stuff.

00:38:22: And now being able To do the staff without All that.

00:38:27: yeah, it feels good.

00:38:28: talk to me because I have The same kind of thing like you.

00:38:31: do something epic Like your going past that?

00:38:35: We're doing for ourselves in brotherhood but nowadays There's always someone there with a camera.

00:38:43: It is all solitude And it's this forever contrast we hold, right?

00:38:48: Like at the same time is It that you want to take people along?

00:38:53: are We still looking for that praise?

00:38:56: like?

00:38:56: I'll tell what i think in a second but i'm curious To hear What do You Think?

00:39:00: yeah The need to document.

00:39:04: Well...to

00:39:05: share.

00:39:06: Yeah well..I ask myself these questions so often because The first feeling and after I went out of the football business, i stopped posting.

00:39:18: And because I didn't have a message or anything to really share...I could share a selfie of me drinking my coffee!

00:39:26: Or I should post my pictures with the World Cup or something like this..and it would've gotten lots of likes.

00:39:34: but at that time there was nothing left for me to give.

00:39:40: It started actually being more active as well, with the camera guy and all that stuff.

00:39:45: After this moment because I again had a feeling of... I could tell something And i could share something.

00:39:53: That for me helps.

00:39:55: If just pull one person along and signs up for marathon or anything This is already fine.

00:40:03: On other hand side often ask myself like It would be way purer, and as well the decision.

00:40:10: Way purer if there was just nobody.

00:40:12: And I have these trips with my little brotherhood and stuff.

00:40:16: where is?

00:40:16: there's no body around.

00:40:18: We don't have a... we're just of our phones for ourselves For the memories that we don't post anything.

00:40:24: These are probably aswell The trips in their adventures That are even more like authentic Even more just you and your guys, doing some crazy stuff.

00:40:38: So yeah I mean definitely there is something of we still or i still like as well the attention because that's why don't earn much money with social media I don't know.

00:40:58: What need there is to share everything?

00:41:01: There's a story and some stuff that people can take away because at the end what i put out it just comes along, so...

00:41:17: The first time we met in person was in Cape Town.

00:41:21: We ran from the other side of Table Mountain to the front as you do on, I don't know whatever.

00:41:27: it was Tuesday morning.

00:41:28: Tuesday

00:41:28: at five?

00:41:30: Exactly!

00:41:30: And... You know.. It really dawned on me that there is a certain value in posting that sort of stuff because they were a few guys and you literally made their day like running past... They were just going for hike up Table Mountain.

00:41:55: But you made that day, right?

00:41:58: Sharing it.

00:41:58: So I definitely see the value in like you say having a message sharing something and sports in general... ...I think thats probably the whole point of professional sports is to hopefully bring along five or ten people off-the-couch.

00:42:16: To me its also the biggest compliment when somebody's like hey man Did this in this race or I started triathlon, where i went and ran a marathon because I saw you doing xyz.

00:42:28: So I see that but I always wonder like if You If it takes away anything from That experience.

00:42:37: Like how he said?

00:42:37: When your when you're alone with the guys Or just by yourself even then you don't share.

00:42:47: It's okay we are complex being.

00:42:50: Like, this is not a purity contest.

00:42:54: You don't get to the end by suppressing something that's within you and I think it still okay to have those paths on the back every now and then.

00:43:03: And remember?

00:43:06: The thing that changed everything for me was in two thousand sixteen... ...the morning of Hawaii!

00:43:18: had my breakfast and then had a little stretching session.

00:43:21: And, uh...my son woke up early.

00:43:26: He just wants me to come back and play.

00:43:50: And he doesn't care about the outcome, and he doesn' t care about their records... ...and all these kind of likes or whatever we

00:43:58: get.".

00:43:59: That was a moment that changed for me.

00:44:01: where I'm like life is so many things with such complex beings.. ..that yes it's actually totally fine to share some parts of your journey.

00:44:15: you don't have to share all them.

00:44:18: And the good reason, if we assign a value to it is like bring people along.

00:44:23: But also... It's just fine for somebody give you virtual fuck.

00:44:28: yeah let go!

00:44:29: Yeah one

00:44:29: hundred percent and I don't believe that we have overthink.

00:44:32: every little bit can be one-hundredthentic when camera is there or not?

00:44:39: Yeah, and if it feels one hundred percent authentic to you as well.

00:44:45: To me in this moment too share something because its just the way we live our lives.

00:44:52: If there is a little effect on somebody then I believe that message or purpose of social media is there.

00:45:01: It's totally fine Its good!

00:45:02: If not any cat singing Hey, again.

00:45:07: How many flat whites?

00:45:07: Sometimes

00:45:08: you need to do this as well right?

00:45:11: You're

00:45:13: sitting next your wife sending each other videos like oh god those things actually happen which is pretty bad but whatever

00:45:22: and sometimes you just have to laugh about it.

00:45:25: But... Aswell the stuff that we are doing now with all of these stuff Do you also mean with kids too?

00:45:34: They see you do something.

00:45:37: Because I have this, my kids like they ask me first time why?

00:45:43: Why does they take pictures with you and stuff like this?

00:45:45: Because I never see me work out, there's even... Never seen me cry in the gym because i was on these low moments.

00:45:52: And everything was terrible in football!

00:45:54: They never saw me really giving everything that I have for this sport Everything at this moment.. ..and I believe if I create responsibility as well to show them That If we do nothing in life There will be nothing Right?

00:46:11: To have as well this energy to really give something, to work hard.

00:46:15: And that is one point for me being in these situations or see them suffering and pain when I'm like crawling the last fifty meters Almost dying.

00:46:41: So yeah, that they see me in these moments and I work hard because it's well.

00:46:46: this is what they see And what they take for the future mean.

00:46:50: Yeah i believe you get What do give at The end?

00:46:54: You have to Give something To Do Something.

00:46:58: Is That you taking on a role model kind of position For you like you want to lead by example?

00:47:04: or what do you think?

00:47:07: Why do you want your kids?

00:47:10: I believe mentorship is a great thing.

00:47:13: As well, i have mentors as well like spiritual mentors but also in business and sports that i look up to that i consult different ways that i talk too.

00:47:24: this gives me value.

00:47:27: what i found the responsibility of having kids.

00:47:30: it's like.

00:47:31: This is the biggest mentorship you can take on in life right?

00:47:35: You shape these little beings not by telling them what to do, but... By doing what you do.

00:47:42: You shape them into the persons at the end that they will become a part of it.

00:47:49: and then if I'm like this person as well for two years after my group, oh yeah!

00:47:55: Okay we can buy this or let's go there.

00:48:00: nothing really is and i don't work out.

00:48:04: so these are things.

00:48:06: So I have this point as well that, actually with my son at the moment he's four years old and i'm his hero.

00:48:16: Really a hero!

00:48:17: And now let me sit at home and here drink trill every day like oh yeah no it's okay we chill... We don't do anything or pushing myself, going with him into fighting lessons and stuff like this.

00:48:31: And really sweating again!

00:48:32: I like stuff like that.

00:48:33: so...I believe there's a great responsibility in being the mentor as well for my kids.

00:48:40: Yeah it is crazy.. I remember one moment when i finished European Champs in Frankfurt.

00:48:46: I can't even remember the year maybe twenty nineteen.

00:48:49: My son was at the finish line.

00:48:52: Well....like you say At end of those races Empty there's just nothing left and it was.

00:48:59: he was actually quite intimidated at that time.

00:49:02: He didn't like it.

00:49:02: Like, he didn't liked seeing the suffering.

00:49:06: But it really made me realize that you know The kind of fun saying do as I say don't do is I?

00:49:12: Do they're kind of like?

00:49:14: if I think about it.

00:49:15: That's probably the opposite advice of what i'd like to give myself.

00:49:19: Yeah,

00:49:20: like I do believe There is so much to be seen in showing your kids what to do, because for me like the whole reason to do sports whatever else was to create some kind of financial stability you know?

00:49:32: Like we talked about.

00:49:34: so if I impose artificial restrictions on them and i'm no guys.

00:49:40: You can't have this!

00:49:41: And really it's me who wants to go mountain biking with my kids So why not get him that bike?

00:49:47: That is where...I think The whole showing To them Is worth.

00:49:55: Really, to me is that much more.

00:50:00: In those moments though when you go... To the well When you see yourself suffering just before You meet your kids Do you ever wonder Are you escaping something?

00:50:14: Or are you Just meeting Yourself without noise?

00:50:18: I believe you said it.. When we were on Table Mountain half of The people doing Something like this Run away from something and the other half is running towards something.

00:50:31: And it's a good question, sometimes I have to feeling that as well... Do i run away from something in these moments?

00:50:47: Probably there's little part of this like being way and doing my stuff.

00:50:56: In these moments and in this races, I'm running towards myself.

00:51:17: torturing thoughts of quitting, and not why am I doing this?

00:51:22: And all these stuff.

00:51:24: These moments are the biggest moment that i find myself have like questions in my head going into these races... The feeling after these races is honest answers and an energy towards me and accomplishment way that carries me.

00:51:45: So after feeling more of myself, this is a good question for my wife.

00:51:51: probably I will ask her do you believe i run towards something or run away when I do these crazy stuff?

00:51:57: And yeah now I have the feeling really...I'm running towards myself in these difficult moments.

00:52:07: Has it changed for you?

00:52:10: like for me was definitely during my phase and at my career Like I was definitely running away from my past, From My social awkwardness.

00:52:20: From all these kind of things and like trying to find myself Yeah Which then brings the you know The self-like You're saying now actually really interesting Running towards yourself.

00:52:32: Do think it's changed for you?

00:52:37: yeah It change for me because Like we said before, in football you have these moments as well.

00:52:43: You go on the pitch and it's like your little figure with so many people around... Do I make a mistake or don't?

00:52:52: And always had that feeling of being different persona to be on that pitch!

00:52:59: When i changed into this persona.. and running away from what is really me.

00:53:05: As well as the doubts, fears... I don't want to take care of them.

00:53:13: What's inside?

00:53:15: Just change this persona!

00:53:17: If i can be best player on a pitch and I was really, really pretty good in this.

00:53:23: And i had these early years because...I mean..i came into football and it's been a lot of money.

00:53:30: then the national team ,then the world championship ..and so fast everything!

00:53:34: I never took time for that.

00:53:36: Probably is well-good to me at this moment Because It helped me stay on that lane and be successful in football.

00:53:44: Let Me Run As Far as I Can Not towards me by the way, so I can still live this life.

00:53:51: and then There was different points in my career that just changed at books.

00:53:56: That are read persons that I met.

00:53:58: that Was like making this turn and coming more More to watch myself again

00:54:05: And I think there's so much point.

00:54:07: That was listening to an interview with Will Smith and he was giving all this advice on how you have to be Zen, and all these kind of things... ...and life has got to be in balance!

00:54:17: You've gotta make sure that you're this-and-that.

00:54:19: There is no way you get here by being Zen like.. There is the early phase or those phases where your just on a gas throttle.

00:54:29: Just threading the needle

00:54:30: totally as well like often young football players because they liked the way that I changed and all this stuff.

00:54:39: They come towards me, write on social media And ask about advice.

00:54:45: This is as well where to be very honest Aswell for them Because i could tell them don't take it so serious Do this and hear breath work.

00:54:56: But when i was twenty Running as fast as I can away from these things that, i know now That helped me Now because As well.

00:55:07: I believe like being that open and having all that Knowledge about yourself maybe And other stuff.

00:55:13: Maybe it's not helpful in These phases as Well where you have to go?

00:55:16: Like head down It's alright play the game be In that business and really push yourself To delimit what You Can do.

00:55:25: all the advice that I give, and this is only thing as well.

00:55:29: That it's true now in your career just like work you're ass off!

00:55:34: Work your ass of these situations.

00:55:38: have kind-of a swallow credit to be there...to being those positions where they can really work hard because people go through life but never find something that they can really go all in.

00:55:53: So being a situation, just work your ass off and then see what happens because life will show you anyways.

00:56:01: That's for sure!

00:56:01: Life would definitely come kick-your-ass if you don't watch out.

00:56:05: but I always like to think happiness isn't the goal.

00:56:09: Happiness will come along the way But chasing something... Like a cat chasing a mouse is just.. What ends up fulfilling?

00:56:19: Yeah,

00:56:20: as well.

00:56:20: this is something I live by today.

00:56:24: There's no happiness...I heard a great quote about it.

00:56:29: Happiness like trying to hold water in your hand.

00:56:35: if you just try and chase happiness the whole time You will end up with nothing at the end.

00:56:44: This as well.

00:56:45: And I never had that knowledge or thought in my career and stuff, but happiness... You don't need it!

00:56:51: Happiness came.. It was there ..and went ...it's not this moment now with these certain ways of living.

00:57:02: Don't chase happiness.

00:57:04: There are some things i believe have to do on the journey.

00:57:11: for myself.

00:57:13: This is just the way.

00:57:15: Andre, what does solitude give you that you never found in dressing room?

00:57:21: I

00:57:24: believe exactly what i said.

00:57:28: these moments with yourself and just by yourself can be in a meditation but as well it can be on a run or anything like...I believe if its way easier to deal with the big questions that you have about your life, my life and which kind of gives you these honest moments.

00:57:56: And like I said i never had a feeling in my career because it was just go!

00:58:01: Go!

00:58:02: Go!!

00:58:02: In a dressing room let's fit-in see where we can be best as well.

00:58:10: dressing room that can be as well like a leader stuff.

00:58:14: Yeah, stuff Like this and in the whole business as Well because if there's any weakness or any Dark moments anything like This it will not help you Because It just yeah Will Be In The Press We'll Be All That Stuff And You Never Really Are Alone?

00:58:34: In Kind Of A Moment and This Is Something I Found As Well Like in your sports and stuff like this.

00:58:43: I tell everybody, i know you other people that do triathlon marathon all the stuff what you guys have it all in common is a certain...i believe there's an energy about your character because you're so often alone.. i believe that you get to know yourself so much better than i was able too in that kind of thing.

00:59:10: It's like you have these moments when your train alone and just by yourself, but not really alone.

00:59:21: And to be young I never appreciated being alone because then i was in this uncomfortable situation dealing with myself But the kind of you had do it as well In races.

00:59:34: so... I believe its a great way get to know yourself being in a solitude.

00:59:44: Knowing what you now, having seen all the highs and lows is twenty players infront of you could tell or do think that who's gonna be the one to endure?

00:59:56: Do you think there are certain telltales that your picked up?

01:00:00: Yeah I mean not one hundred percent but i believe theres like an energy as well of like the look in your eyes and stuff, And The way you move.

01:00:13: In certain situations that You can see a person or as well A player's character Body language and kind Of all That Stuff!

01:00:24: You See Like a little bit What he is made of If He Is struggling if it Not Struggling.

01:00:30: So I wouldn't say It's one hundred percent Because There Can be more to a Person a certain feeling.

01:00:40: I believe, yes.

01:00:42: There is this equation where it's seventeen percent what you say then i think its twenty eight percent how to say it and fifty five percent body language.

01:00:58: did u have that as well on the starting line or something?

01:01:01: You know!

01:01:01: Yeah thats same in football.

01:01:03: your are at tunnel.

01:01:04: before you go out You're in these two lines and everything you do, as well on yourself.

01:01:11: On your body language.

01:01:12: What is it?

01:01:13: Is the shoulder or chest out of your back?

01:01:16: Do a certain look there And then you look around...and you know!

01:01:20: This makes great players as well create teams.

01:01:24: this what I believe like Germany, Bayern Munich.

01:01:27: this is one point why they are so successful.

01:01:29: if you stand beside them at the tunnel You know today is gonna be very difficult because they're there as well if like a Thomas Müller stuff Like this is choking around.

01:01:40: but you know, that's certain kind of look and you know.

01:01:44: Oh my god

01:01:45: Did you enjoy those moments?

01:01:46: Yeah I enjoyed it.

01:01:47: i loved It

01:01:48: came to love it!

01:01:49: I hated in the beginning But then he came to Love.

01:01:52: yeah

01:01:52: for me was from the start...I loved it Aswell..i loved it To Be Aswell After I went to the national team and stuff was like a certain, obviously you have Like A Certain People Come To You And All This Stuff.

01:02:10: You're in your good physical conditions and you look around.

01:02:20: then, you know man.

01:02:21: Yeah, yeah gonna destroy them today.

01:02:25: Those are the days.

01:02:27: they're not that often but when you have them there?

01:02:33: What would you call this?

01:02:33: is it a performance performance hydration?

01:02:35: There we go so to perform its drink here went really Like.

01:02:39: he said.

01:02:40: you have all the stability you have a family you Have your hobbies.

01:02:45: I mean starting of business.

01:02:47: It's like going through the gauntlet, right?

01:02:49: Yes.

01:02:52: What made you start a salty

01:02:57: electronic performance iteration?

01:02:58: I mean this is as well.

01:03:00: coming back to one of the earlier questions.

01:03:02: it's like...I want to see what there in life and put myself into difficult situation starting your business because I come from sports as well.

01:03:15: Have no idea about business building, what do I need?

01:03:17: What is

01:03:18: that?".

01:03:18: I mean have a great network and now it's... As you said like building your team of my co-founder who founded this one of our best friends And he actually knows businesses.

01:03:31: He has very big company in all the stuff.

01:03:34: So for me Building a Team means The Stuff That Im Not Good At Finding professionals like really, really good people that know the stuff.

01:03:46: That I don't know and they're there in most of the time as well?

01:03:50: I can open doors on a network And i'm good with people and i am good with product and stuff Like this.

01:03:55: but at The end what I Decide to have is like absolute professionals by my side that track me along that they show me new things as well.

01:04:06: So this is what it's about, the building trill.

01:04:09: I mean its a fantastic journey to last six months Aswell building team and being again...I had that feeling in different teams but again being leader you have bring energy every day into these whatsapp chats into those calls.

01:04:28: we're building something really good.

01:04:32: Let's get it, people.

01:04:33: So this is for me as well stepping completely out of my comfort zone being there every day and really on that energy level And having the vision like a product in company where if I would not do it My life will still be good but This big discomfort which makes lot of fun.

01:04:55: Yeah

01:04:56: man you love it.

01:04:58: On those calls or chats How did your team I drill to walk out with beating their chest.

01:05:07: How do you carry that motivation over into your team now?

01:05:14: Because you're passionate,

01:05:15: yes!

01:05:16: You've got the drive and vision.

01:05:19: how do you share

01:05:19: them?

01:05:20: Just by having great conversations really being authentic about the cause of the brand why it exists need to be, uh, bring that feeling over.

01:05:35: So like this is a product came into triathlons stuff I needed for myself and wanted in my fridge And that... That i try and want it have these moments of pushing the limits.

01:05:52: so This what i want to transport as well with this brand What i need aswell My team members it's okay to dip a toe after your limits and see what you're made of.

01:06:05: And so I believe that is very easy way because its just one-uncent authentic, this very easy ways to transport like this energy uh... Because thats just what i do everyday.. What try to do every day.

01:06:18: Yeah we were talking about an off mic before.

01:06:20: That You know.

01:06:21: After like thirty forty Ks in One Of Those Long long runs eventually all you just feel like is salty and sparkling.

01:06:30: Like that combination.

01:06:31: Yeah, it's just the best right.

01:06:34: yeah

01:06:34: It is I mean here everybody that was in these kind of situations The same.

01:06:39: after You know the drinks After you have a football game or I don't know.

01:06:45: This is what you desire, right?

01:06:47: You want to have this citrus, this sparkling something that's like mouthful.

01:06:53: and so yeah now we have a different option as well!

01:06:57: Well the thing with nutrition.

01:06:59: it all about these sweet sweets hundreds of grams of sugar per hour.

01:07:07: i just find its that palette cleanser.

01:07:12: I believe there's a different kind of shift as well in like what people want to drink and decide to have on their shelves.

01:07:22: Obviously it needs the taste good, we also wanna be company that is accessible for everybody so it has of good taste because otherwise they drink it once and then never come back.

01:07:36: And on the other hand side, you just don't want to be next lemonade being like what everybody else is doing.

01:07:43: so I believe there's a great way for having this function.

01:07:47: or high salt in that hydrates your just way faster and create tastes not sweet but sour salty taste.

01:07:58: It's my product.

01:08:01: I drink it every day, like a couple of times and yeah hope that we find the people who love it as much as i do.

01:08:09: Yeah...I certainly like it!

01:08:12: Its really good.

01:08:12: first time i've tasted it.

01:08:15: So what is the vision?

01:08:17: Of The Business?

01:08:18: What Is The Goal?

01:08:19: Is This Something Like In Sports?

01:08:23: We're Talking About Competing vs Completing Right?

01:08:27: When you have a certain time frame and that's when you want to set it, And You Want To Have This Business.

01:08:33: And You Want To Build It In Five Years To Take That Metaphore Across.

01:08:38: But Then Some People Also Choose To Build Generational Things Like For Us.

01:08:44: With Ryzen for instance with our clothing brand We've Decided That We're Not Building An Exit Case.

01:08:50: we're not building Something To Sell Through The Next Big Company.

01:08:54: Are You Willing To Share Any Of Those Ideas Or Have You Even Had Them?

01:08:57: Yeah,

01:08:58: I

01:08:58: mean obviously we talk about it and i think what Trill will be like or really the vision but if you...I don't want to close doors.

01:09:13: Make the best company possible that a lot of people drink in sports, but as well and offices And all this stuff.

01:09:19: we want to make it like I said next year.

01:09:21: We will start like A big expansion in Germany Switzerland also reaching that we can have like more and more of the community at having The possibility to taste it into to buy it.

01:09:36: and so At the moment, there's no thought of any exit in ten years.

01:09:41: There is as well no thought off anything else.

01:09:44: so The only thing we want to do is building the best products that We love and having their best possibilities Aswell In a company.

01:09:53: obviously it's like not Only dreaming And all this stuff.

01:09:58: It has to work with other Products and shelfers.

01:10:03: So yeah The only thing we can do is put the energy into it, be authentic in building and trying to make the biggest company possible.

01:10:15: There you go!

01:10:17: I am a dad so i'm allowed to say that... You'll just have to drill down and find it!

01:10:22: True

01:10:23: Dad!

01:10:24: This has been a lot of fun.

01:10:26: our traditional closing question when was your last time that you went mental?

01:10:32: Definitely Last Soul Ultra.

01:10:36: It was as well the lounge event for trial, it wasn't what was crazy.

01:10:40: Like a backyard ultra format that I texted you before and then i wanted to.

01:10:46: oh my god this is aswell!

01:10:48: I overestimated My ability To run so much...I told You I want to run one sixty.

01:10:56: yeah one sixty twenty four hours in a backyard Ultra And did half of it..and it's like As well For me when I look at big failure at the end that I didn't reach.

01:11:09: The goal and stuff like this.

01:11:10: obviously, I never ran seventy kilometers so it was a big step for me.

01:11:14: ten kilometers more i can see in that way as well.

01:11:18: but Aswell Like Failing And Being So That I Overestimated My Ability So Much Shows Me How much?

01:11:29: I Can Still Do So.

01:11:31: And Now how Much Potential There Still Is.

01:11:35: This was the last time really being mental, besides from chaotic moments with my kids in the morning when I go mental as well.

01:11:45: That's

01:11:45: a different kind of mental.

01:11:47: but hearing you on those last hours or the last minutes before he had to pull the pin it definitely sounded... Yeah, imagine.

01:11:57: Like normally when you text me and stuff like this And as well it puts in a different kind of state As while reading your book.

01:12:07: It's very inspiring to me Getting the texts from you then But everything was gone Spirits body.

01:12:20: I couldn't give more.

01:12:21: But that's the beautiful moment like, yeah That is actually the moment you actually found your limit at that time and to me a failure Is only if-if You keep If you learn nothing from it.

01:12:31: but I think in terms of that discovered everything And found everything

01:12:36: True

01:12:37: Very very cool.

01:12:38: Next Time we'll go eighty five.

01:12:40: Yeah, let's

01:12:40: do it, man.

01:12:41: Let' s

01:12:41: do it.

01:12:41: Andre this has been A lot Of fun.

01:12:42: Thanks so much for taking The time really

01:12:44: appreciate it.

01:12:44: Thankyou Alright!

01:12:47: please leave us a review and rating.

01:12:49: We'd really appreciate your

01:13:17: feedback,
